Tail Pulleys

The drive pulley may or may not also be the head pulley. Usually has a larger diameter than other pulleys in the system and is often lagged (ceramic or rubber) to increase traction and pulley life.

Tail pulleys can be used to return or redirect a conveyor belt back toward the drive pulley. Conveyor tail pulleys commonly serve the purpose of a take-up pulley to keep tension on the belt.
