Belt Feeders
Transmin has been designing and supplying bespoke belt feeders for mining, mineral processing and general bulk materials handling applications. These systems are often integrated with downstream conveying solutions such as modular belt conveyors to ensure efficient material transfer across processing operations.
The LPF has the unique ability to change direction using a bend transition. A change of direction from horizontal to inclined can be achieved without the requirement of a second machine; therefore creating improved space utilisation, flexibility of plant layout, eliminating transition points between conveyors, and reducing capital expenditure. LPF machine capacities vary according to application, although rates of 6,000tph and above are readily available. The LPF is built with trusted components, proven in the most arduous applications, with a low ongoing cost of ownership.

Frequently asked questions
Historically, belt feeders have been used form multiple applications and are generally a cost effective solution, which is easily maintain.
In some cases belt feeders are prone to miss-tracking, where the belt wanders to one side. In such cases a Low Profile Feeder will be a more suitable solution as it completely eliminates miss-tracking.
A feeder controls the rate material leaves storage; a conveyor simply moves material at a fixed rate. A feeder is flood-loaded, with its speed setting the discharge rate from a hopper or bin, while a conveyor runs at a fixed, higher speed while only partially full. Transmin has designed bespoke belt feeders for this role since 1987, handling everything from coarse dry ore to fine, wet filter cake.
Belt feeders typically mis-track due to off-centre loading, poor splice alignment, uneven belt wear or structural misalignment. Other common causes include harder or tighter skirt rubber on one side, material build-up on the pulley, uneven scraper pressure, and product characteristics such as sticky or unevenly distributed material. Regular inspection and correct alignment of the feeder components can help prevent tracking issues.
Head load is the weight of material pressing on the belt beneath the hopper, and it’s the biggest factor in sizing a belt feeder’s drive and structure. More head load means more installed power and heavier-duty components. Transmin manages this through hopper design and by engineering the feeder, hopper transition and isolation gate as one matched package.
